Woo Woolf
Ensemble Not Found
Theatre
4 November 2025
Created by Ensemble Not Found (ENF), a collective of first-generation ESEA artists, Woo Woolf is not a Virginia Woolf bio-play. Devised by an all-migrant ensemble, this piece is equal parts fever dream, playful protest, and tender troublemaking. Three “Marys” — an oracle, a dancer, and a translator — journey through time, language, and metaphor to meet Woolf in memory, mischief, and mushroom stews. The piece blends movement, poetry, dreamscapes, and a surreal cooking show into a fragile tableau of theatrical vignettes. It traces gendered histories, fading mother tongues, and the everyday rituals of care, asking whether translation can hold us together — or whether food, poetry, and shared labor might. Funny, painful, and unlike anything you’ve seen, Woo Woolf gently unsettles fixed narratives while refusing to be reverent.
