A major exhibition at Charleston in Lewes showcasing over 100 works by Vanessa Bell. Spanning painting, textiles, ceramics, furniture, and book design, the exhibition highlights the full range of Bell’s artistic output and positions her as a pioneering voice in modernism.
Accompanying the exhibition is a publication of the same title, edited by Fay Blanchard and Anthony Spira, with contributions from Rebecca Birrell. The book explores Bell’s artistic journey, her influences from the Italian Renaissance and European avant-garde, and her collaborations within the Bloomsbury Group. It provides an in-depth look at over 130 works, encompassing her paintings, designs, and decorative arts.
