This illustrated cover was created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Virginia Woolf’s Mrs Dalloway. It accompanied an article by Vanessa Thorpe on the idea of “Dalloway Day” and a new story by Deborah Levy inspired by the novel.

The artist, who first read Mrs Dalloway in school, drew scenes of old London in a style that reflects Woolf’s stream-of-consciousness writing. The piece blends memory, movement, and city life—just like the novel.
