WOOLF ARTS ARCHIVE

For There She Was
David Simon Contemporary
Exhibition
3 – 8 June 2025
London, United Kingdom
Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the publication of Virginia Woolf’s Mrs Dalloway, this exhibition began with an invitation extended to twelve artists to creatively respond to Virginia Woolf’s Mrs Dalloway. The result is a dynamic and richly imaginative collection, reflecting each artist’s unique engagement with the novel. Through a diverse range of mediums—including painting, sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media—the participating artists offer fresh perspectives on the novel's central characters, their inner lives, and the societal context in which they exist. The final body of work comprises 42 paintings, 9 bronze sculptures, and a selection of freshly fired ceramics. The exhibition will premiere in Mayfair during the first week of June, before traveling to the gallery’s Somerset location for the remainder of June and July. A beautifully printed catalogue will accompany the show, capturing the depth and diversity of this remarkable artistic journey.

This striking exhibition of paintings, sculptures, and ceramics features works by Chloe Holt FRSA, Steven Hubbard, Victoria Jinivizian NEAC, Alice Mumford RWA, Sue Wales, Frances Watts, Neil Wood, Emma Rose, Mike Service, Richard Twose, Sara Ingleby-MacKenzie, and ceramics by the Chelsea Potter.
