A Comic Absurdity Entitled: A Society

Leslie Kathleen Hankins

Book Art

2021

United States of America

This is a specially bound publication of Virginia Woolf’s satirical work "A Society" that is illustrated by Leslie Kathleen Hankins. Released by Leslie Kathleen Hankins’ Making Waves Press, this edition honors Woolf’s legacy with vibrant visual interpretations and historical references to Woolf’s original publication by the Hogarth Press in 1921. Moreover, the violet, white and green of the book’s cover symbolically refers to the Suffragist movement and thus instantly positions the book against the debates of the 1920s over women’s rationality and creativity that Woolf herself criticized.
